Just a few of my favorite photos from the year. Orrrr okay maybe a lot. But it’s been a busy year! I took a look back at my post closest to New Years last year, and I said I was hopeful for the year. I remember that I meant that in regards to a photography business. Well, it was a year full of photgraphy.
Just not of the sort I was expecting.
The last sort of thing I would have expected was to be a mere 7 weeks into a pro-photography business and randomly accepting a new ‘day’ job, one that would move us to that place that previously only resided in hazy childhood memories. A move that would completely derail my fledgling photography business. And I think I would also have been shocked over the fact that, as long as I yearned for that photography business, I would feel so completely at peace with shelving it indefinitely.
I’d be surprised to hear that my son would attend 3 different (sometimes horrible) daycares in 3 months before we finally got him into his preschool. That he’d still handle it all so well. That he’d be so darn BIG all of a sudden, just randomly one day no longer a toddler but a real, actual kid.
I could never have guessed that keeping a wooden crate of awesome, quality cheeses and aged cheddars would just be normal. Ditto to Friday Fish Frys. That we’d deal with dozens of political calls a day because we lived in a swing state. That we’d be researching snow tires and our weather radio would go from Absolutely Necessary to Pretty Much Useless.
I guess the only thing I could have foretold is that my husband would continue to be such a darling, sweet man, who always rolls with the punches and sees the best in every situation. Where I would be without him, I don’t know. It wouldn’t be as fun, that’s for sure.
Our undying devotion to our Jayhawks also never wavered, and my goodness, but what a year for our basketball team – we were so grateful to witness that team, who had no love from the media or critics, and yet they clawed and fought their way to the Championship game in 2012. It felt like a sweet parting gift from our beloved little team.
So anyway. 2012 was a crazy year. Here’s to hoping that 2013 keeps us as unexpectedly (and wonderfully) on our toes 🙂
Finally got that kid to play in the snow, just had to let him bring out some weapons…
